Most people who put off trying a meal prep service aren't unsure about the food. They're unsure what the first few weeks actually require of them. Here is the ordinary version of a week on a Project LeanNation plan at the Short Pump store, with nothing dressed up.
What happens at the first visit to the Short Pump store?
The first visit is a consultation at 3442 Lauderdale Dr in Henrico, and it takes twenty to thirty minutes. You sit down with a coach, get an InBody scan, and leave with a plan built around what the scan actually shows rather than a guess from a starting weight.
There is no commitment attached to the consultation itself. Some people book one, take the information, and decide later — that's a reasonable outcome, not a wasted trip.
How do you get your meals each week — pickup or delivery?
Two ways, and you're not locked into either from week to week. In-store pickup at the Short Pump location is available every day it's open (Monday–Friday 9am–6pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am–2pm); it's worth knowing upfront that curbside isn't currently offered here, so pickup means a quick trip inside rather than a call from the parking lot. Local delivery runs from the same store out across the western Richmond area — Short Pump, Glen Allen, Richmond's West End, Mechanicsville, Manakin-Sabot and North Chesterfield are all in range, with no-contact drop-off available if you'd rather not be home for it.
What does a normal day look like?
Undramatic, which is the actual point of the model. The meals are already cooked, so you heat one and eat it — minutes, not a cooking session, and nothing to wash beyond a fork. Most members don't replace every meal in the week; lunch is the usual starting point, since lunch is the one that most reliably turns into whatever's nearest when nothing is planned.
What changes after the first month?
The plan gets adjusted, and that's what separates a membership from a box that shows up on autopilot. You check back in with your coach, repeat the InBody scan, and the plan changes based on what actually happened in your week, not what was supposed to happen. If the portions were off or the meals you picked weren't ones you looked forward to, that's exactly what the check-in is for.
What do actual Short Pump members say?
Rather than describe the experience in the abstract, here is some of what members have said in public Google reviews of the Short Pump location. These are excerpts, unedited, and it's worth naming the caveat plainly: reviews are a self-selected group of people who chose to write one, not a scientific sample, and none of the outcomes any individual reviewer describes should be read as what you personally should expect.
"Love this place! Athlete meals are great, and the staff is always so friendly. Definitely the best business to buy meal preps from in the the Richmond / short pump area!!"
