Project LeanNation franchise owner Shane Lucas was recently featured in a Q&A with CityBiz, sharing his journey from customer to franchise partner and how he’s building a community-centered wellness destination in Atlanta.

Lucas owns Project LeanNation Intown Atlanta, located in the Old Fourth Ward and Inman Park area, where the focus extends beyond meal prep to helping individuals build realistic, sustainable nutrition habits.

Project LeanNation is built around the idea that healthy eating should be convenient, personalized, and supported by education. Through chef-prepared meals, protein shakes, supplements, and body composition analysis tools like InBody scans, locations help members better understand their health and fuel their goals.

At the Atlanta location, Lucas says the goal is not just selling healthy food but building real relationships with the community.

“We’re not just selling meals off a shelf,” Lucas said in the interview. “We’re having real conversations and helping people build nutritional habits that feel realistic, not overwhelming.”

From Customer to Franchise Owner

Before becoming a franchise owner, Lucas experienced Project LeanNation firsthand as a customer in Charlotte, North Carolina. When he relocated to Atlanta in 2021, he immediately saw an opportunity to bring the concept to a new community.

What stood out most to him was the personalized approach to nutrition.

“The culture focused on understanding my goals, educating instead of pushing, and keeping things approachable,” Lucas shared.

With more than 15 years of experience in the fitness and wellness world, including work as a professional dancer and instructor, Lucas brings a strong understanding of how nutrition supports performance, recovery, and long-term health.

That philosophy now shapes the culture of his location, where the emphasis is on consistency, balance, and sustainable habits rather than extreme dieting.

Building Community Through Wellness

For Lucas, Project LeanNation Atlanta is about more than meals—it’s about building community.

The location regularly partners with local studios, run clubs, schools, and small businesses while participating in neighborhood events throughout the city. Inside the store, the focus remains on connection and accountability, helping members stay motivated on their health journey.

“Nutrition is the product — community is the purpose,” Lucas explained.

Lucas also prioritizes creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where individuals of all backgrounds feel supported in their wellness journey.

Encouraging Future Entrepreneurs

As a first-time business owner, Lucas acknowledges the challenges that come with opening a franchise but encourages others interested in entrepreneurship to pursue opportunities they are passionate about.

His advice to future franchise owners is simple: stay disciplined, stay adaptable, and keep showing up.

“If you’re disciplined, adaptable, and willing to show up daily, then go for it,” Lucas said.

A Local Impact with Lasting Reach

As Project LeanNation continues to expand nationwide, franchise partners like Lucas play an important role in bringing the brand’s mission to life at the community level.

By combining convenient nutrition solutions with education, coaching, and community engagement, locations like Intown Atlanta are helping people simplify healthy living while building stronger local connections.
