Drink Up!
Today we are going to talk about hydration! Because our bodies are primarily made up of water, it is critical to the function of our vital organs, skin, bones, joints, and digestion. If we're not drinking enough water, we're basically starving our bodies of liquid nourishment. We need to keep ourselves well hydrated—before we get thirsty!
Being properly hydrated is also critical to the success of any nutritional plan. Drinking enough water goes hand-in-hand with following a clean, well-portioned nutritional plan. Getting enough water has been shown to help people lose weight, build muscle, feel less tired, and keep less fluid in their bodies. The American Institute of Medicine estimates that the adequate intake (AI) of liquids per day is roughly 13 cups for men (3 liters) and 9 cups (2.2 liters) for women.
Water is essential for proper nutrient absorption and keeps the human body functioning properly.
We suggest, at a bare minimum, you drink 60% of your body weigh in ounces per day. BW x .6 = ounces per day. If you are not a mathematician, aim for 2 large glasses per meal, as well as a glass when you wake up and one at bedtime. **Add another 12 ounces per half hour of exercise.
Remember, the benefits of proper hydration are countless! You will feel amazing and you won’t feel hungry!
